One direction was there (well half of them)
Louis and Liam from One Direction decided to crawl out of the dark hiatus hole they’ve been living in and grace their fellow Brits with their presence. The two were together on the red carpet taking pictures and such, and sat together inside the show. Liam even Instagrammed a large bucket of alcohol at their table (watch out Liam, you don’t want that six pack ruined by a beer belly). The pair ALSO went on to accept the award for Best British Video for the video for their song “Drag Me Down.” What I really want to know is where is Harry? And is it just me or is Liam’s face looking thinner?
adele supports kesha
After collecting the award for Best British Female Solo Artist (she went on to win more awards of course), Adele openly expressed that she supports Kesha during her legal battle with Sony and music producer Dr. Luke. That’s one person you definitely want on your side. You go Glen Coco!
Justin Bieber performed (and sort of messed up)
His performance was on fire… literally. The Canadian singer (GO CANADA) performed “Love Yourself” alongside James Bay and then moved into a live performance of “Sorry” complete with flames and dancers. His performance wasn’t his best, but it also wasn’t his worst. Bieber seemed noticeably off, and did not have the full amount of energy that he usually does. Not to mention, he mixed up some lyrics. At the end of the first verse he sounds like he wants to say “second chances” but subtly turns it into the correct word “forgiveness.” At the end of the second verse, right before the chorus he says “forgiveness” when he is supposed to say “second chances.”No worries Biebs, it happens.
Rihanna rihanna rihanna
RiRi did WORK during her performance (seriously, how does she move like that?). This was probably one of the best parts of the show, especially considering she had to cancel her Grammy performance last week due to bronchitis. Not only did she dance like the Queen that she is (and gave Beyonce a run for her money), but then DRAKE showed up OUT OF NOWHERE, and they GRINDED ON STAGE TOGETHER during an insane duet. Damn girl, damn.
david bowie tribute by lorde
The late David Bowie was honoured once again. Annie Lennox gave a beautiful opening speech and was joined on stage by one of Bowie’s oldest friends Gary Oldman. Oldman accepted an award on behalf of the singer, and spoke of Bowie’s greatness and his fondness for their friendship. Oldman then introduced Lorde, who made an unexpected appearance at the award show to sing “Life of Mars with Bowie’s old band members. Lorde was magical and graceful and reminded everyone of how amazing she is. It was absolutely one of the performances of her career.
